Back to School

Spring break flew by me at break neck speed. Now I’m staring down another Monday. It was a productive and peaceful week.

I ambitiously wanted to get many more sewing projects finished, but I was stricken with seasonal allergies the later part of the week. Apparently it’s not spring break unless I’m coughing my lungs up. I did finish two dirndl skirts and have one more on the ironing board that needs a waist band. I also did the preliminaries on my Simplicity 8882 dress, I’m hoping to get started on that soon.

Other Highlights:

It’s like a grand-baby. Except you eat it!

I’m fairly certain that Wallis Simpson is currently laying the eggs in the coop. Margaret looks like she could start at any point and Lilibet is doing the characteristic pre-egg squat when I pet her. Either way, I’m a proud chicken mama.

Spring Break Egg Count: 4

Grow, baby grow.

Tomatoes were planted in the garden. They were not the prettiest, but they are my first self-started batch of seedlings, so I’m super proud of my ugly tomato children. I’m watching a few of the transplants, because they didn’t take to being moved very well and appear to be dying. Thoughts and prayers, tomato babies, grow well and be strong! I got the seeds to plant, so I can get a jump start on the slightly warmer weather. We can’t plant until we finish phase 3, and that has to wait until the Fella’s busy season at work is over at the end of March. I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to use all these veggies come summer, when I have a kitchen under construction, but I’ll think of something; probably a hot plate.

Have a lovely week!
