    Sourdough Dreams

    Like two thirds of America, I have been experimenting with sourdough. I have found this to be a great exercise in observation and patience. The lack of yeast meant that I needed to start with just water and flour, creating a little ball of tasteless dough, that sat in my shelf for a few days collecting wild yeast from the air. It is through this process that I have learned that my mind and my dreams are like sourdough. Hear me out.     Life on the Inside

    As a history teacher, I frequently have my students reflect about the role they would have played in an unfolding scenario in various periods of history. The ultimate goal is to humanize events and look at them from perspectives frequently missing from the over arching narrative. It is surreal to be taking part in history that isn’t an academic simulation. The fella and I have been among the really fortunate ones. We still have our jobs for the moment.     The Fella’s Back!

    The Fella has been in Nashville, where he’s been hanging out with some random blonde, since Saturday. After I finish this post, I’m off to the airport to pick him up and bring him home. I’m glad when the Fella gets to travel, even if it means he gets to meet Dolly impersonators without me. That said…things get interesting when he’s gone.
